This is a pretty ordinary looking place (think Wagamama, Waraku, even Ajisen with the bowls of plastic ramen mounted on the walls) but instead of ramen this serves pasta.
The sauces are not too bad, if a bit watery (as opposed to creamy, in the real Italian tradition) so it’s probably a better idea to order oil-based or wine-based pastas (vongole, aglio olio, etc.) as opposed to an alfredo.
Note that these portions are roughly half of the normal since we ordered the half & half set (which I think is meant for one person, but i could be wrong) that comes with a cup of soup and a drink or dessert.
The noodles are al dente (I’m pretty sure they time it) and are perfect every time. Rubato could take a leaf out of this chain restaurant’s book in cooking ravioli perfectly.
Dessert part 2 from Obolo at Rochester Park Mall because the Yomenya dessert did not quite hit the spot. Obolo markets themselves to serve the best macarons in Singapore and at $15.80 per box of six, it could have been the most expensive if not for Laduree. They were pretty good! I really liked the chocolate truffle cream wedged between the macadamia and hazelnut macarons. I was always skeptical of this because of their over-confident advertisement but I must say it exceeded my expectations and are much better than Canele’s macarons.
And that was just wednesday’s lunch!
