Lunch at the Public Izakaya

This was a chuxi meal after a morning visit to the SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark – they only really had 3 large scale exhibitions, of which only 1 was really interesting. After that we window-shopped at castlery for Hr’s new apartment and then headed to the Public Izakaya at 100am mall for lunch.

Z got the negitoro don set – it came with miso soup and a drink of choice

Pickles

Cold green tea

I shared the rest of the side dishes with Hr.

We got the cold tofu with bonito and grated radish – not bad, but I prefer agedashi.

Interior

Assorted kushiyaki – pork jowl kusshi, tebasaki, bacon wrapped asparagus, bacon wrapped eringi – all pretty average.

The gyoza croquette was literally gyoza filling, deep fried. No potato or anything. This was interesting.

The chicken skin senbei was a little on the hard and thick side, not as good as Izakaya Hikari’s.

The crab gratin was great – tasted like there were little pieces of pasta/fregola sarda in it, and was pretty comforting.
