Dinner at Da Paolo Gastronomia, Vivocity

The original dinner plan was to eat at Putien – there was a long queue at Putien since it was a Friday night – I totally didn’t expect that. I mean, it’s just Putien. Haha. The food is good but there are so many restaurants in Vivocity. So we bounced from restaurant to restaurant, even Fish & Co and Earle Swensens had a queue! It was pretty shocking. We eventually ended up here, and the food is about what you’d expect.

Spaghetti aglio olio with mushrooms – shiitakes and creminis. The sauce was pretty spicy. Like they used bird’s eye chilli. the mushroom flavour also rather overwhelmed the aglio olio flavour – it was more mushroomy than garlicky. The noodles were at least al dente, but Yoemenya Goemon ultimately does better (cheap) pasta.

Tomato soup and San Pellegrino

Spinach tagliatelle al granchio – pretty good tagliatelle; LZ was surprised the sauce had crab. The sauce was alright, probably used canned crab, and Pietrasanta’s crab sauce is nicer/more gao.

Standard tiramisu from Artea – the mascarpone layer is creamy and light, but does not have enough coffee flavour.

Their strawberry tiramisu is really more of a shortcake than a tiramisu. I liked it better than the original flavour. They pack the tiramisus really giftily, all wrapped in gold foil. They’d make a good birthday treat for a colleague.
